Flensted Olephants 3D Mobile - PastelsDesign by: Ole Flensted for Flensted, DenmarkThe modern mobile was created in 1954 by Christian Flensted and his wife Grethe. The family business is still based in Denmark, on the island of Funen where Hans Christian Anderson was born. Flensted Mobiles are created so that the elements are in constant motion while the entire mobile maintains a harmonic balance. Each mobile is carefully assembled, and balanced by skillful hands by artisans from their own homes and then collectedly twice a month by the company car. This practice has been in use for more than 30 years in which the process allows employees to work from home and leave less carbon footprint on the planet. In 1972 Ole Flensted designed one of the most beloved Flensted Mobiles: the "Elephant Party". Though still popular and one of our bestsellers, we are proud to present this 2011 version that has been designed by using only circles and section of circles. The mobile is 3-dimensional and is held together by the trunk and the tail - a small, but smart detail. The 2 sides of the elephans are kept apart by clicking the ears to the 2 parts.
