Started by the talented Elizabeth Dunker as an multidisciplinary art and design platform and brand, fine little day 

specialise playful creating.

 

Also working as a freelance illustrator, photographer and stylist, you can also find her work done for clients such as

Urban Outfitters and Kosta Boda to name a few.

 

Although we have to bear in mind that we have to stay focused on products related to little people (we could easily have

purchase every single item), we couldn't resist taking in her gorgeous cushion covers and think they would look equally

gorgeous in a nursery or playroom, as on the sofa...

To end 2010 we have choosen to feature the stylish Danish design house Ferm Living

 

Founded by Trine Anderson back in 2006, Ferm Living has come to be a firm favourite with a substantial proportion of

UK designistas.

 

Combining graphic design patterns with a nostalgic twist, Ferm's products result in the perfect blenf of modern, retro

and vintage style design.

 

One of our favouries is the collection designed by Oslo based illustrator Darling Clementine for Ferm, featuring Mr Fox, Ellie

Elephant, Posey Panda and Aristo Cat on a wide range of products from wooden pictures to wallpaper. Prices start from

Having felt the owl love that's spreading across the globe, we simply cannot sell enough of the eco friendly and ever

There are a few designers who we simply cannot get enough of, and one of those is Dorthe Mailil and her whimsical designs for the ever successful Danish designhouse, Maileg.

 

Inspired by fairytales and with a wonderfully creative imagination, Maileg have proudced some amazing products, loved by adults and children alike and that are heirlooms in the making.

 

The mice family itmes has to be one of our favourite designs. Yesterday my daughter Matilda wanted me to play with her and her mice family and we had a lovely time taking them for an imaginative walk around the house, making a den for them in my slippers and using the matchbox both as a boat, car and a bed...

We thought it would be fun to share some facts and sources of inspiration from our designers and will be doing so in the

form of a mini interview featured once a month. To sart this off, we are delighted to introduce the popular ISAK brand.

 

The Scandinavian graphic designer and illustrator Sandra Isaksson have been designing lifestyle products  for her lable

ISAK since 2006. Our favourite product has to be her Numbers and ABC workboard. Not only do these look fantastic displayed

on the wall, but they are so practical! Our kids use them all the time when drawing on our kitchen table or laying a jigsaw on

the floor (it's difficult to find flat pieces for larger jigsaws that you can move with ease).

I grew up in the troll filled woods of Tiveden, South Sweden (Mariestad by Varnen)

 

My children and their needs inspire me in creating children's products. An my childhood and Scandinavian design from the

1950's, 60's and 70's.

I think my upbringing influenced my style, the wallpapers in my grandmother's attic, the retro flowery pattern on an aunty's dress,

the cups we inhereted from a great grandmother... Being away from Sweden for the last 15 years has made me look back at all

those things I think, they bring back great memories for me and I want too recreate them.

I love Petit Collage's beautiful prints. We have their Bamboo mobiles in our nursery. The "Clouds" in blue bedset by Gunilla Axen I love, in fact I'm going to buy that right now from you! And the Eco Friendly Wooden Rocking Horse from Plan Toys is amazing!

With Christmas approaching and December only a few days away, we've been thinking about alternatives to the chocolate

filled advent calenders widely available in our supermarkets. 

 

I don't know about you, but I hate the taste of the chocolates in the shop bought calendars and whilst I have to confess to

giving my son a very non-imaginative Lego calender this year (and my daughter a Hello Kitty toy filled one...), we did have

a beautiful wall hung version by Maileg last year, filled with little treats and presents. We even included treasure hunt maps for

experiences rather than physical objects, which was a big hit with the kids!

 

So, whilst there are lots of unique and original versions available to buy in the shops (including our knitted advent calender), 

we thought we'd share a couple of projects for those of you who are feeling a little bit creative and are embracing the home made Christmas theme by the lovely graphic designer Julie Ree and crafter / author Ali Edwards (have a look at her blog here http://aliedwards.com/)

 

 

The first one feature a paper pyramid garland (you can purchase a printable pdf file for these from Julie Ree's Etsy shop)

whilst the second feature boxes stuck to the wall (use our Rie Elise Larsen boxes and paper bags, or simply use your recycled

boxes and get the kids involved in the painting!)

Ever since we laid eyes on this talented designer we have lusted for her creative designs.

 

When we finally made the decision to take her on, so did you!

 

Perfect for adding a splash of colour to your home, we couldn't think of an easier or more affordable way than adding some of the colourful hooks. Practical and effective these can be used througout the house and are perfect for areas such as hallways, kitchens, bathrooms and the playroom.

 

And at this time of year, who could resist the gorgeous metal wreath, just begging to let the creative diva within you loose!

 

Our favourite, however, has to be the metal lamp pendant with their colourful cords. Available in blue, yellow and red, with unisex appeal this would make a nursery/kids room light. We simply love it!
